“To empower families with information, through nurturing family units with life-enhancing skills, activities, and education."
Sakha Isizwe Development Organisation (SIDO) is a non-profit development organization based in Delft, Cape Town. SIDO was started in March 2012 by Julita Dorman as a response to the huge impact of poverty, unemployment, teenage pregnancy and other secondary social issues such as school drop-outs etc.
SIDO’s vision is “Building the Nation” and it has pioneered its initiatives in Delft, a township in Cape Town in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, with a focus on Children and the Family. The organisation is driven by the vision and words of the late President, Nelson Mandela: “Parents have the right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children”. SIDO carries out this vision by promoting and encouraging learning in every home, be it a built house, shack or rickety structure.
